Town Point UMC
Worship 8:45 a.m.
Bible Study 9:45 a.m.
Nestled among farms, marinas and waterfront communities on Port Herman Road near
Chesapeake City, Town Point United Methodist Church has a bright, open
sanctuary overlooking the beautiful rural landscape. Our congregation is
an intimate group, diverse in age and religious backgrounds, bringing
together young adults, working adults, parents, retirees, locals and
newcomers.
Town Point offers traditional Sunday morning worship each week, along
with a interactive, Bible-based worship program for elementary-aged
children called KidsOwn Worship. Nursery is available for infants and
toddlers, but the younger kids are also welcome to participate in the
singing and dancing at KidsOwn Worship or remain with their parents in the
sanctuary.
After worship, there is a time for food and fellowship each week, after
which adults and youth meet for study (a schedule can be found at church
and in the bulletin). Town Point's Benner hall is regularly the site for
fellowship meals, Bible studies, pancake breakfasts, and special events
such as our annual Easter Celebration, Agape Meal and Father's Day
breakfast. Together with the other congregations on our charge--Trinity
Church and Jacob's Well--we offer many opportunities for mid-week
Christian education through Bible studies, covenant groups, youth group
and children's programs. See our "Study" link on the home page for
a schedule of short and long term study events.
Town Point also partners with the other congregations in support of missions,
including the Chesapeake City Ecumenical Association's food pantry, Mom's
Kanal Kitchen monthly fellowship lunch, Vacation Bible School and numerous
local causes. In our fellowship area, you can find information on the
missionaries we support in Jordan and a supply of fairly-traded coffee and
tea available for purchase to support impoverished farmers. Click on
the "Outreach" link on the home page to learn more about our service
in mission.
Town Point's comfortable, friendly church combines the intimacy of a
small, country church with the resources of a large, community-oriented
United Methodist Charge. Our church also has a rich history: the first
formal building was built in 1917 (the congregation worshipped in an old
vinegar mill before that) and served the community for many years until
Benner Hall was built in 1987 and a new sanctuary consecrated in 1993.
Come, worship with us and we will welcome you into our family!
