Greetings!
My name is Amy Yarnall and I serve as the Pastor of Town Point, Trinity, and now Jacob's Well. I
hope that you will worship with us on Sundays. If you are seeking to
know what it is to have a relationship with God, worship is a wonderful
place to begin. You will hear the stories of faith, gather with people
who range from open skeptics to long time saints, and be invited to seek
God together as a community. If you are a Christian seeking a new church
home, we hope that you too will come and worship with us.
The morning
worship services are the same at both Trinity (11:15) and Town Point (8:45) Churches. We
gather each week to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ through
song, prayer, scripture, preaching, and response. The style of dress
ranges from jeans to sport coats and dresses, so wear what you are
comfortable wearing. Our music is a mixture of contemporary praise songs
and traditional hymns. Following the Word read from scripture and
proclaimed in the sermon, we have a time for community prayer.
Jacob's Well meets at 10 a.m. at Bohemia Manor High School Auditorium. Launched on April 16, 2006, this is a contemporary, multi media worship service with a praise band. The style of dress is casual. Together we sing, experience the Scripture and Sermon with multi-media (often movie clips), and experience stations for prayer, Holy Communion, and offering.
My
personal story: In July 2003, I began serving here in Chesapeake
City, following six years of pastoral ministry in other settings. I
graduated from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C. with a
master of Divinity. My undergraduate work is from the University of
Delaware in International Relations. I am married to a wonderful husband,
Ray and we have two children. Our daughter Shannon and our son Jacob are
two of God's greatest blessings.
After being
nominally raised in the Church, I came to my adult faith in Wilmington
Delaware. My husband and I began attending Skyline Church after graduating
from college and becoming engaged. It was there that I wrestled with the
big, deep questions of faith and life. I explored the question of "if
God is so good and loving and created this world, why is there so much
wrong with it?" I wrestled with the fact that every society since the
beginning of time has had a religion of some form, so "why is
Christianity so special?" I wanted to know what I was doing on earth
and what I was supposed to be doing with my life. It was about a year
before I stopped feeling like a hypocrite in church. Through worship,
small group study, and mission service, I met God. My question moved from
"how can I believe?" to "how can I not believe?" The
change was gradual, but profound. I have found that God is awesome,
present, and calling me to live my life completely for God. I invite you
to come and discover (or discover again) what life is like as a follower
of Jesus.
